The City of Austin is seeking two highly qualified individuals to fill the Assistant Director of Austin Code positions which report to the Austin Code Director. The next Assistant Directors of Austin Code will have several exciting challenges to address and areas of opportunity in which to excel. Among these is the need to drive proactive monitoring, progressive code enforcement during COVID-19, and reimagining public safety. The successful candidates will be instrumental in driving the departmentís programs for neighborhood enforcement, licensing and registration, short-term rentals, and reallocated programs as part of re-imagining public safety.

The ideal candidates for the role of Assistant Director of Austin Code are individuals who can effectively inspire, lead, direct, oversee, and guide the day-to-day operations of Neighborhood Enforcement, Licensing & Registration, Repeat Offender Program, and the Commercial Enforcement Programs.

Preferred qualifications include: Master Code Professional (MCP), ICC/AACE Certified Code Enforcement Officer (CCEO), and/or an ICC/AACE Certified Code Enforcement Administrator certification is desired.

Proven track record of code compliance/code enforcement, a high focus on customer service, and a desire to provide education to the community.
Experience overseeing regulatory programs that are mandated, enforced, and appointed by regulatory boards, buildings, and standards.
Experience creating and executing strong and successful work accountability systems.
Experience planning, leading, and presenting to internal and external stakeholders on projects and programs.
